Opening a tabbed center

Tabbed centers in Quicken Classic for Windows let you view and manage specific types of financial information—such as accounts, transactions, bills, or planning tools—within a dedicated workspace. Each tab corresponds to a major feature area of the program.

What is a tabbed center?

A tabbed center is a panel or module that opens when you select one of the major tabs at the top of the Quicken window. Each center provides a focused view and set of tools for managing one aspect of your finances.

Common tabbed centers include:

  • Spending – Shows your transaction register, account balances, and spending trends.

  • Bills & Income – Lets you manage reminders, scheduled payments, and income events.

  • Planning – Gives access to budget, debt reduction, and savings goal tools.

  • Investing – Displays your portfolio, performance reports, and securities.

  • Mobile & Web – Manages sync settings for mobile access and Quicken on the web.

Each center is organized by task and often includes multiple subtabs for working with related features.

How to open a tabbed center

You can open any tabbed center using the tab bar at the top of the Quicken window:

  1. Look for the main tab bar near the top of the screen, just below the menu bar.

  2. Click the tab for the center you want to open (such as Spending, Planning, or Investing).

  3. The selected center opens in the main workspace area of the window.

Note: Only one tabbed center can be active at a time. Selecting a new tab closes the current center view.

Why use tabbed centers?

Tabbed centers let you focus on one financial area at a time without switching windows. Each center groups related tools and information, making it easier to:

  • Track account balances and transactions

  • Manage bill reminders and cash flow

  • Set and review budgets or savings goals

  • Analyze investment performance

They provide a consistent layout across Quicken, helping you quickly find what you need based on the task at hand.
